I’ve heard it all before…that you shouldn’t love your spouse any more on Valentine’s Day than you would any other day of the year. You should give them special treatment every day of the year. Well, the love is there, but I am ashamed to admit the special treatment doesn’t always happen. So I decided to use this St. Valentine Day as a new beginning for special treatment and regular date nights . Being a wife, mom, homeschooler, business owner and chief juggler does not make it easy to plan anything, much less a Valentine’s Day date.

My husband got me a pink executive chef’s jacket. Several weeks before we were watching the Cooking Channel and I mentioned how I much I would like to have a chef’s jacket and wondered if someone, somewhere made them in pink. I also added that I didn’t want him to buy me one. I meant that. The rascal found one on Amazon and I am delighted with it.

After dinner, we ate the red velvet cupcakes with creamed cheese frosting I baked and chocolate dipped strawberries, served with sparkling cider in wine glasses. Since he gave me the chef’s jacket at approximately 12:01 a.m. on Valentine’s Day, I was able to wear it as I prepared dinner and desert.

We also watched “I Don’t Know How She Does It” on demand. I enjoyed this movie, I especially identified with being a “juggler mommy.” I was pleasantly surprised that my husband enjoyed it too. He he likes movies with way more fighting and explosions, so I’m sure it was a sacrifice! He even offered to watch it with me again.

After seeing some nice handmade bags for coupons on Etsy, I remembered I had this bag in my closet and decided to convert it to a coupon purse. When I go shopping, I just slip my phone and wallet in and I am good to go. The size is 11″ W x 8″ L. The straps are 9″ long. I can be stylish while I shop and I don’t have to worry about dropping my coupon box. The only thing is my husband refuses to bring it when he shops alone

I use this for the coupons and/or products we use most. I don’t clip any other coupons. I simply date the inserts and file them in an portable accordion style file case. I have tried the insert method alone and the binder method alone and this hybrid way of organizing my coupons has been the best choice for me and has yielded the greatest results.

I recently started couponing again. I have been learning the Coupon Mom system of saving and it has been paying off. We are working on reducing our grocery bill, contributing regularly to our local food bank and supporting our country’s troops.

I have also learned a lot from several different websites like Coupon Cravings, Deal Seeking Mom and many others that I will link to later.

Here is a my latest shopping trip at Harris Teeters. With sales and triple coupons, I was able to get these groceries for $3.24. Most of the items were free, one was $1.00 and the others were under $.40 each.

Cheerios
Spray & Wash (2)
Mt. Olive Relish
Mahatma rice (6)
Lysol toilet bowl cleaner (3)
Yakisoba noodles (3)
Wacky Mac
Welch’s grape jelly (2)
Sure deodorant (2)

We have a lot of wildlife that visit our property…rabbits, all kinds of birds, squirrels, deer and recently a black bear!

A few weeks ago my son informed me that there was a nest in a tree just outside his bedroom window. After several tries, I was able to catch a robin family in action on video. It was fascinating to see God’s creation this close up. In fact, since I was shooting the video through an open window, there were times that it seemed that the parent was looking right at me and might take flight at any moment and take aim for me!
I hope you enjoy it and watch to the end for a sweet surprise.
